From 1881 " History of Lafayette Co." : Edward Weatherby was born June 20, 1810 in North Shields Northumberland, England ; there he followed mining till 1846, when he came to Dodge Co. Wisconsin the same year he removed to Shullsburg. He was always engaged in mining and owned over 300 acres in Shullsburg. He married Mary A. Cole of England in 1836 and they had one son, George E. who became Justice of the Peace and Notary Public. George E. was born in Durham England in 1837. At the age of 19 he went to Appleton Wis. and attended Lawrence University three years and then returned to Shullsburg to open a Drug Store which he continued for 11 years. He was President of The Village Board and also represented the village on The County Board. He married Ellen Priestley of Mineral Point in 1859 and they had 4 children Nellie, Lizzie, Ned and Josie
