Robert Trestrail was a boot and shoe maker and was born in 1816 in Cornwall England. He and his wife came to Shullsburg in 1851 from Cornwall England where he learned his trade. He continued in his trade until his death in April 29, 1873. He was a member of the Village and School Boards. He was appointed Postmaster in 1869 and then his wife Elizabeth took over the Position after his death. They had 3 children: Robert M., Mary S., and William H.
