Professor Henry Jane , Principal of Shullsburg High School, born March 15 1847, in Dodgeville Iowa came to Shullsburg at age 4 with his parents. He attended public school till age 13 and then clerked for about 4 years. At age 18 he attended the Normal School in Platteville , graduated in 1870 and then went to Fort Howard and taught there for 2 years. In 1872 he returned to Shullsburg and taught school for 4 years. He was appointed Principal in 1878. He married Jennie E. Jeffrey in June of 1875 and they had 3 children: Mabel J, Arthur H and Clyde.
